Alexandre Perigot Born (1959) and lives in France. Recent solo exhibitions: Centre d'art contemporain, Rennes, France (2006), Tramway, Glasgow, Scottland (2006), Museo Collecao Berardo, Lisbon (2008); recent group exhibitions: Grand Palais, Paris (2006), Istanbul Biennial (2007).

Alexandre Perigot’s work presents paradoxical statements concerning art and society. At the intersection of popular culture and art history, Perigot creates critical works that bring together the aesthetic and the political. Piperdream (2007), for instance, is an evolving project that relates to the English expression, as well as to pipes that allow for the flow of energy between countries whose borders are becoming increasingly blurred. The work presented in this exhibition, Sometimes You Win Sometimes You Lose, is composed of a series of folded plastic tubes, with which Perigot attempts to write this sentence in the gallery space. The object seems to be brought to life through the use of a bellows. By blowing into it, one may mentally reconstruct the structure of this sentence.
