This work is part of a series that reconstructs Wilhelm Reich’s experimental attempts to impact the atmosphere by means of Orgone energy (1953-1954). Keller’s first reconstruction took place in May and June of 2003 at PS1, New York, and the last thus far took place in March 2008 in the Moroccan village of Tizefrit, with the aim of triggering rainfall. During the exhibition period in New York, the city experienced the heaviest rainfalls recorded in the meteorological almanac; in the Moroccan village, rain fell during a normally dry period. The experiment in Jerusalem does not involve rainfall, but rather underscores Reich’s view of the atmosphere as a physical, psychological and even political entity. The Cloudbuster is situated on the building’s roof, while a live video image of it is projected into the exhibition space on a satellite dish.
