Dan Perjovschi’s work has transformed drawing into a medium that is simultaneously
a performance and an installation. His drawing performances involve an analysis of
our personal and collective responsibility for understanding the world, and are shaped
by a powerful political conscience and devastating wit. In every site where Perjovschi
creates his ephemeral graffiti, he reads local newspapers and takes the local context into
account – extricating from it views on current political events, everyday life and art. He
asks awkward questions concerning subjects such
as post-Communist identity, the arrogance of the
West and the pressures faced by European artists.
