Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla work with a wide range of materials, yet focus on analyzing contexts and situations related to globalization. This artistic duo is developing a long-term project that is resolutely critical and political; it centers upon scenes that bring together ephemeral situations with largely amusing observations about a disenchanted and disilluisoned world. The animals at the center of their most recent works appear as the unwitting and extemporal witnesses of violent and unstable situations. So, for instance, an immobile camel stands in the middle of a busy gas station in Teheran – an absurd image of two diametrically opposed worlds.
