Tomas Saraceno’s work is concerned with science and scientific observation. Over the past decade, he has been combining various media to develop a poetic and ambitious project. As he himself points out, he is interested in “rethinking the temporality of the artwork. [...] A transparent globe is inflated, photographed by a wireless camera than transmits the images to a video projector. [...] After several moments, the viewer realizes that the projection on the wall is taking place in real time; this perception grows clearer when you see yourself upside down […] on ‘Spaceship Earth’ – a spaceship that has been diverted off course, in a world that is sometimes freefalling or rotating too quickly, and at other moments is floating weightlessly.” (B.B.)
